Lakeside Golf Course


Lakeside Golf Course is a local favorite. It opened in July 1970 and is situated on approximately 185 acres adjacent to Jacobson Park and Jacobson Lake. It features large greens, rolling terrain and the longest par-5 in the state at more than 600 yards. Other amenities at the course include a pro shop, banquet space, a snack bar and a full-line practice facility that includes two tees and three practice greens. It is managed by Lexington Parks & Recreation.

Sustainability Management and Green Team

  • Develop a written comprehensive sustainability plan.
  • Designate a Sustainability Coordinator or Green Team responsible for managing sustainability initiatives.
  • Hold quarterly Green Team meetings.

Energy Efficiency

  • Establish a regular filter maintenance policy for your HVAC system.
  • Have the HVAC system evaluated every 2 years by a certified service provider.
  • Install programmable thermostats and use them to adjust temperature during unoccupied hours.
  • Install occupancy sensors in bathrooms, meeting rooms and other infrequently used areas.
  • Take measures to insulate HVAC system and duct work to minimize heat loss.
  • Daylight work spaces wherever possible.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Implement a basic recycling program.
  • Provide clearly marked recycling bins at work stations and/or in common areas. Recycling bins are paired with a waste bin.
  • Train and require janitorial service or staff responsible for cleaning to segregate waste and recyclable materials.
  • Use reusable mugs and dishware instead of disposable plates, cups, and utensils.
  • Establish an electronic waste policy that diverts all e-waste away from landfill.
  • Create a landfill diversion goal.

Water Conservation

  • Assess, track and document water consumption.
  • Conduct a water audit.
